I love a good pinafore, if I could I would absolutely live in them. They make for such easy dressing like this one from Topshop as you can wear them with pretty much anything from crop tops, plain tops and shirts such as this one from New Look. Pair with your footwear of choice and you're good to go. (Mine are cheap and cheerful from Primark, they don't like the rain)
A lot of last year was spent in my bathroom in a tiny rented house frantically trying to not get dye all over the shop. I've tried out a range of colours but my heart and head will always be fond of the purpley pinks.
As October is the chosen month for Breast Cancer Awareness I decided to join in with the #pinktober campaign and dye my barnet pink for the month. I have got a lot of bad blood with cancer and anyway to help beat it I will join. However when it came to the actual dyeing process I realised half way through I had run out of pink so had to improvise hence the purple tones, which I love. I much prefer different shades and tones in my hair rather than a block colour to provide some depth and texture.
Bleach London are my favourite hair brand, they are literal goals. To create the shade I have I used a mix of Bruised Violet, Rose, Violet Skies and Awkward Peach topped off with washing with the Live Forever/Rose shampoo and conditioners... told you I had a love for Bleach. Now, I'm not methodical with application I try to be all professional with a brush and gloves but by the end I have stained hands and a bit of dye on my forehead but a great colour overall. Luckily that approach seems to work out for me!
I reckon I might keep the current colour I have now after October for a bit because it definitely makes me feel cooler than I am.
Unemployment sucks, simple. To fight the urge to do nothing and just cry whilst asking yourself where it all went wrong, here's a few things to remember.
1. DON'T SLEEP IN.
I have been bad at this. Unemployment is far from a holiday so instead of sleeping in, get up at a normal time. Now I'm not saying stupidly early like 5:30am but waking up at a similar time that you're used to will not only make it easier to fall back into routine when you get back to working but will make you more productive.
2. BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET
Don't be stupid with your money when you don't know when you'll next have a pay slip. Instead of going out for drinks, have your pals round. Like that new dress in the Topshop display? Don't even think about it as painful as it may be. You still have bills and rent to pay and they're the priority. I'm not saying be a anti social Annie but factor in what your outgoings are. Now if you're lucky enough to live at home this is a bit easier but the pinch on the wallet is the worst agreed?
3. A FRIENDS RE RUN MARATHON IS BOUND TO HAPPEN
Thanks, Comedy Central. One minute its 11am and the next is 6pm.
4. FIND ODD JOBS
To earn yourself a bit of £££ whilst you apply for those dream jobs, be productive. I've done a little bit of work in my sisters pub to not only get myself doing something and get out of the house but to let my bank balance feel a bit happier.
5. IT'S 2015, THE INTERNET EXISTS.
Contact people, email people, tweet people. There's no harm in seeking help or putting an offer out there and making yourself known.
6. TRY NOT TO STRESS
This is the part I'm guilty of and it's understandable, it's a crappy, difficult stressful situation to be in. Don't take out your stress and frustration on those around you, especially if they're trying to help. (Soz mum, I appreciate your emails really) Things have a way of working out even though it may not feel like it now. Before you know it the day will come where you no longer have to chose between the tesco value or tesco finest options.
My friend Smay made a video about job hunting that may be of some help!
Decided to do something a little for different for October. I'm not nearly interesting or cool enough to do vlogtober daily so i'm giving weekly a go. In this installment I go to Leicester for a fancy dress party and see one of my all time favourite bands, Fall Out Boy. I hope you enjoy it!
It's been a while since I did a favourites post. Here's a few things I've loved using, reading and consuming through the month.
First up is the Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry and Vanilla hairspray. Now that I've chopped my locks again styling has become essential. The scent of this is amazing and scents of hairspray usually turn me off because it just feels like I'm going to drown in a cloud of chemicals but this avoids that completely. Not to mention the hold is fantastic.
I've also been obsessively using the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray. I bought this a while ago then once it ran out I never got round to repurchasing it. Recently on a trip to Brighton I grabbed another bottle and it's been a core part of my makeup routine, especially when I'll be out on long days.
Next up is the Simple Kind to Skin+ Protecting Moisture Cream with SPF 30. I'm always on the hunt for a budget friendly cream that does the job, Although it does take a little longer to sink into the skin than I'm used to I've been really happy using this daily especially as someone who has sensitive skin.
Let's talk eyebrows. I am always hunting for the perfect eyebrow product. Since my Brow Wiz ran out I've felt a gap in my makeup bag. I picked up the Maybelline Brow Satin pencil and it's a perfect colour and not overly waxy. However this does run out quickly but for a budget buy I'm not fussed too much,
The book I've been loving in September is Dear Stranger from a wide range of authors for the charity Mind, The book focuses on letters on the subject of happiness and is a really interesting and uplifting read.
Lastly, the food. I have not been able to stop pinching these off my sister. The tesco White Chocolate and Cranberry cookies are just so good and they're also gluten free. Win.
